The 2018 Virginia Dixie Softball Ponytails State Tournament gets underway Friday at Bolter Field in Kenbridge.

The Lunenburg Girls’ Softball (LGS) Ponytails All-Star squad will take the field at 5 p.m. against the Bedford Metro All- Stars.

Help is still needed during the tournament for those available to volunteer.

Volunteers are particularly important because the tournament is especially important to Lunenburg Girls’ Softball, functioning as a major fundraiser for the league.

The LGS Ponytails All-Stars will not be the only Lunenburg All-Star softball squad in action this weekend.

The 2018 Virginia Dixie Softball Debs State Tournament begins Friday in Farmville. The LGS Debs All-Stars drew the bye in the first round and will play their first game Saturday at 3 p.m.
