The Lunenburg County Historical Society (LCHS) announced its annual photography contest for 2018. The theme of this year’s contest is “Reflections of Lunenburg’s Yesterday.” Amateur photographers of any age are invited to enter a striking photograph – one photo per entrant – that reflects a historic aspect of Lunenburg County. Entrants do not have to be residents of Lunenburg County; however, the photo must have been taken in Lunenburg County within 12 months ending Sept. 15, 2018.
There is no entrance fee. All entries must be accompanied by a completed entry form. Contest rules and entry forms are available at Lunenburg County’s two public libraries: Ripberger Public Library in Kenbridge and Victoria Public Library in Victoria. If you are unable to come to either library for your entry form, please email woodpark1@ earthlink.com for a copy.
Submit one unframed 5” x 7” print (either black and white or full color) mounted without glass covering on a mat, cardboard or poster board. The print, unless accompanied by a fully completed copy of the contest entry form, may be rejected. Minor digital enhancement is permitted, but images that have been significantly modified or appear unnatural will be disqualified. Original digital image or negative must be available to judges on request. The judges may declare no winners in a category.
Entries will not be returned. Entries must be received at Ripberger Public Library, 117 S. Broad St., Kenbridge or Victoria Public Library, 1417 Seventh St., Victoria during business hours on or before Sept. 15.
Judging for each entry will be based on creativity, quality and originality as relevant to the above stated theme. Winners in two categories will be announced in October. Cash prizes will be awarded: Black and white first ($25), second ($20), third ($15), honorable mention ($10) or full color first ($25), second ($20), third ($15), honorable mention ($10).
The entrant retains all rights to the photograph submitted; however, by entering the contest, the entrant grants permission to the LCHS to publicly display the entry and use entrant’s name in the caption.
