Central High School’s varsity football team struggled significantly on the road Friday night against one of the James River District’s perennially elite teams. Goochland High School pulled away from the young Chargers for a 58-0 victory. Pictured above, Chargers sophomore running back Cameron Kates pushes for more yardage with the ball as Bulldogs senior linebacker Justin Woodson tries to bring him down. The only forward movement Central could achieve offensively came through its run game, and the team’s runners could not find much running room, combining for only 96 total yards. Junior running back T’Zion Wilkerson led the way with nine carries for 38 yards, and he lost two fumbles. On the other side of the ball, senior defensive back Earl Ginn led the Chargers with nine total tackles, including one solo tackle. Junior lineman Kawonte Ragsdale finished with seven total tackles, including three for a loss and three solo. Due to the expected arrival of inclement weather this Friday caused by Hurricane Florence, Central (0-3) will play two days earlier than usual, hosting Buckingham County High School (1-2) on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
