Be part of county’s future

A joint meeting between the Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors and the Kenbridge and Victoria town councils is scheduled for Thursday Oct. 11, 6 p.m. at the Lunenburg County Courthouse to update and review the Lunenburg/Kenbridge/Victoria Comprehensive Plan.

For more than a year, the county has involved residents in providing input about needs that the county has, and goals that residents in the county hope to reach.

Residents have participated in everything from online and print surveys last summer to community meetings held in January and February of this year to update the plan, which was last updated in 2012.

The county and the Commonwealth Regional Council (CRC), taking these suggestions and comments, have met several times this year to develop a plan that embraces all of these goals. They are also implementing plans that the public can still provide feedback about to their elected representatives.

Representatives from the Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors, the Lunenburg Planning Commission, the Victoria Town Council and Victoria Planning Commission and the Kenbridge Town Council and Kenbridge Planning Commission are expected to be present at the meeting.

Lunenburg County is where you, the reader, live. Whether you’ve been in the area for decades or a short time, there may be aspects of the county you’d like to see grow, change for the better, or discard entirely.

This meeting is the perfect time to be informed about the future plans of the county. It’s the time to speak to elected representatives and make a difference that could better the county, and the place where you and your neighbors live. Let’s fill the courthouse. Let’s make our voices heard.
