New providers at Lunenburg Medical Center

Lunenburg residents who visit Lunenburg Medical Center (LMC) at 1508 K-V Road, are set to see two new family nurse practitioners (FNP), Elizabeth Zirkle and Kasey Gaulden, on call. This announcement comes from Southern Dominion Health System, Inc., which owns the medical center, in a recent news release.

Zirkle, according to the release, is certified as a family nurse practitioner and attended Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Nursing for both her undergraduate and graduate degree.

Zirkle’s previous experience includes working in the Medical Respiratory intensive care unit at VCU, working with school aged children for Henrico County Public Schools and being an adjunct professor with East Coast Polytechnic Institute (ECPI), and a teaching assistant at VCU. “Mrs. Zirkle has a passion for women’s health, psychiatric mental health and palliative care,” the release cited. “She has previously worked with substance abuse disorders and is looking forward to obtaining further training in this area. Mrs. Zirkle is married with two daughters. She enjoys yoga, hiking, fishing, traveling, reading, cooking, and eating a good meal with family and friends.”

Gaulden is a certified FNP who attended VCU and Old Dominion University for bachelor’s degrees in biology and nursing respectively, according to the release.

She received her master’s in nursing from the Nurse Practitioner Program at VCU.

Prior to coming to LMC, Gaulden worked for four and a half years at Virginia Commonwealth Health System on the Acute Care Pediatric Unit.

The release cited that Gaulden has a special interest in providing lactation education to breast-feeding mothers.

“Mrs. Gaulden lives in Chesterfield with her husband, 2-year-old son and dog named Emily,” the release cited. “She enjoys outdoors, spending time on Kerr lake in the summer, football in the fall, and spending time with friends and family.”

According to the release Zirkle and Gaulden are currently seeing patients of all ages. “Scheduled appointments and same day appointments are welcome.”
