A joint meeting between the Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors and the Kenbridge and Victoria town councils is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 11, 6 p.m. at the Lunenburg County Courthouse to update and review the Lunenburg/Kenbridge/Victoria Comprehensive Plan.

Commonwealth Regional Council (CRC) Executive Director Melody Foster said during a September CRC meeting that a few of the comprehensive plan working committee meetings have seen delays due to the heavy rainfall and flooding associated with Hurricane Florence.

A memorandum from CRC cited that the working committee for Lunenburg, Kenbridge and Victoria made changes to the special policy areas section of the comprehensive plan that would be finalized once new information concerning the county’s policy on solar farms has been included.

The committee has also received information from the CRC about the CRC’s 2010 Regional Bike Plan that was expected to be finalized by the end of September.

The process to renew the county’s comprehensive plan began in 2017. The comprehensive plan, which describes the area’s current demographics, its plans for future growth and steps to accomplish these goals was last updated in 2012.

Surveys requesting residents to voice suggestions or concerns about aspects of the county were distributed last summer. The county and CRC also held three community meetings at the beginning of the year to get additional feedback about the plan.

Representatives from the Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors, the Lunenburg Planning Commission, the Victoria Town Council and Victoria Planning Commission and the Kenbridge Town Council and Kenbridge Planning Commission are expected to be present at the Oct. 11 meeting.
