ANNUAL FALL PLANT SALE, sponsored by the South Central Master Gardeners in the agriculture building at the South Central Fair, Chase City. Come out and support your local Master Gardeners.

OCTOBER 13 & 14

THE LEGEND OF SLEEPY HOLLOW, 7 p.m. on Friday, will be showing at the Kenbridge Community Center, 511 E. Fifth Ave., Kenbridge with Sunday’s show at 2:30 p.m. Sponsored by the Southside Area Community Theater (SACT).

OCTOBER 14

OPEN HOUSE, noon-3 p.m. at the Kenbridge Fire Department in observance of Fire Prevention Week at the station. Free hot dogs and hamburgers, snacks and cold drinks. There will be rides on the fi re trucks, gifts for the kids, as well as handouts on fi re prevention/safety for the adults, demonstrations on putting out fi res with kids actually using fi re hoses with water. Come out and support the Kenbridge Fire Department, see their equipment, meet your local fi refighters, eat a free lunch and learn more about fi re safety.

HOMECOMING, 10:30 a.m. at Jonesboro Baptist Church, 1955 Jonesboro Road, Blackstone. Guest speaker, the Rev. Alden Hicks. Special music by Old Time Gospel Singers. Lunch to follow. All are welcome.

WORSHIP SERVICE, 11 a.m. at Cedar Creek Baptist Church. Speaker will be the Rev. Darrell K. Jones of Kingdom Building Fellowship, New Kent. All are welcome.

MUSIC EXTRAVAGANZA, 4 p.m. sponsored by The Pleasant Oak Baptist Church at Crewe Christian Church, 100 Maryland Ave., Crewe featuring local teachers, students and a host of professionals. Donations accepted.

LUNENBURG NAACP TO MEET, 4 p.m. at the People’s Community Center, Victoria featuring “Tree of Life” consisting of Bible Verse and Songs. Refreshments will be served. Everyone is welcome.

PASTOR’S ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. at Silone Baptist Church for pastor the Rev. Melvin J. Palmer. The Rev. Sharon Baskerville will be the guest speaker along with an invited choir. Dinner will be served. All are welcome.

GUEST PASTOR, 11 a.m., at Gilfield Baptist Church, Kenbridge, will be the Rev. Verness Uettburg of Victoria.

J/D SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM, 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 821 Lunenburg Ave., Victoria.

18TH USHERS ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. at Union R.Z.U.A. Church, Meredithville. The Mistress of Ceremony will be the Rev. Dr. Geraldine Wall of Freeman. All ushers are asked to dress in uniform. The public is welcome to attend.

WOMEN’S DAY, 11 a.m. of New Galilee Baptist Missionary Ministry. Asking all missionaries to wear white.

148TH ANNIVERSARY, 11 a.m. at Cedar Creek Baptist Church. Speaker will be the Rev. Brian Walker of Second Baptist Church of Chester.

NOVEMBER 4

FUNDRAISING PROGRAM, 3 p.m. at Concord Baptist Church. Various singing groups to appear. Proceeds will go toward the Smithson Family who lost their home due to a flood caused by Hurricane Florence.

NOVEMBER 11
