Due to the unexpected intensity of Tropical Storm Michael’s impact in Lunenburg, the Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors canceled the meeting scheduled for Oct. 11.

Deputy County Administrator Nicole Clark confirmed that the items originally set for the Oct. 11 meeting will be moved to its next regularly scheduled meeting Thursday, Nov. 8.

A joint meeting between the Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors and the Kenbridge and Victoria town councils, and Lunenburg, Kenbridge and Victoria planning commissions was scheduled Oct. 11.

The purpose of the comprehensive plan is to clearly identify rules and goals for the county to implement in the future. The county’s comprehensive plan was last updated in 2012. The various local government agencies are working with the Commonwealth Regional Council (CRC) in developing the plan, which had an online survey for residents in 2017 and three community meetings earlier in the year.

The meeting was also set to have two public hearings to propose installing cemeteries in Lunenburg.

The first family cemetery, proposed by applicant Sylvester J. Holmes, would be located in the 2000 block of Old Mansion Road in Lunenburg. The land parcel consists of 15.29 acres, according to a public notice of the meeting.

The second family cemetery, proposed by applicant Dennis Jones, would be located on the 3000 block of Plank Road in the Town of Kenbridge. The land parcel consists of 33.10 acres.

The land parcels for both properties can be viewed online at lunenburggis.timmons.com.
