Julian Jerome Jones was born on July 10, 1933 to Shaffer Peter Jones and Geraldine Tynes Jones of Kenbridge, VA. He had his Elementary education in Lunenburg County, VA and later attended St. Emma’s Military Academy in Powhatan, VA. on the site of the Belmead Plantation.

Upon graduating Jerome, joined the U.S. Air Force. He served during the Korean War as an Air Craft Finisher in Northern Africa and Alaska. He was married to Marilyn Virginia Brown and born three of his five children; Andre Jerome Jones, Latrice Dianna Jones and Patrice Elaine Jones. He served honorably and was discharged in February 1959. He returned to the county of his birth and took up space next to his father at one of his father’s business ventures, the Jones Barber Shop. He bore two more children Angela Alicia Jones and Dominic Jujuan Jones, took over Jones Barbershop and ran that business for decades. He would later marry Beatrice Felder on Sept. 1, 1991 and remain married until the time of his death on Oct 7, 2018.

Jerome loved the simple life; fishing, reading, painting, following the Washington Redskins and his Gospel music. What he enjoyed more than anything else was just sitting and talking with the people of the town that he loved and that loved him right back. He took time with people, especially those down on their luck. He could identify with these people. He saw the goodness in even the most flawed people, and those who society had often caste aside. He could remember who they were before they had made choices, before they were down on their luck. He would tell you their stories. He knew them all and their families.

Jerome was preceded in death by his parents, S. P. and Geraldine Jones, his son Andre Jones and his daughter Patrice Harris.

He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife Beatrice Felder Jones, six siblings and in-laws; George Francis Jones, Lucy Therese Powell, Portia Cecelia Montgomery, Gertrude Elizabeth Burke (Roger), Peter Claver and (Caecelia), and Edward Steven (Michele); his children and in-laws; Latrice Jones Tollerson, Angela Jones-Haynes, Dominic (Erika); nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren, Shakira Jones, Katrina Brantley, Kiila Johnson, Andrea Jones, Brittany Bullock, Brooke Bullock, Nijah Jones, India Jones and Tyler Haynes.

Services were conducted Friday, October 12 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Blackstone with Father Edward Andrea Ntunde.

S.P. Jones and Son Funeral Service served the family.
