Results of Lunenburg Historical Society photo contest

Dawn Conrad of Victoria earned first place in the black-and-white category with a photograph of an old water fountain on the lower “little” athletic field at old Victoria High School (now Victoria Elementary School).
Carole Wallace of Kenbridge took first place in the color division of the Lunenburg County Historical Society Photography Contest with her photograph of the amazing floating staircase at Brickland Plantation which celebrated its 200th anniversary in 2018.
The judging of entries in the annual Lunenburg County Historical Society photo contest was recently completed. Winners were awarded cash prizes for their photographs. The following winners were announced: Full Color Division: first place, Carole Wallace; second place, Kittrell Elsaesser; third place, Jennie Howe; and honorable mention, Sadie Nelson. Black and White Division, first place, Dawn Conrad.
Judging was based on creativity, quality, and originality relevant to the stated theme, “Reflections of Lunenburg’s Yesterday.” This year’s photographs were of especially high quality. The judges had many complimentary remarks about the entries.
Amateur photographers of any age are encouraged to take photos highlighting any historic aspect within Lunenburg County for submission in the 2019 Photography Contest. One 5” x 7” photo per person, either color or black-and-white and taken after Sept. 15, can be submitted in next September’s competition. Specific rules will be announced well in advance.
