Pillowcase dress project

A box of 75 dresses made from pillowcases, trimmed with decorations and stitched with love, were recently mailed to Annie Judd of South Hill who is serving as a missionary in Mexico with YUGO Ministries. The project was conceived by Betty Cox of Victoria Christian Church and implemented in the early fall with assistance from Carolyn Lewis. This idea touched a spark among local seamstresses from the community who met at the church weekly to prepare the dresses. It ignited such enthusiasm that individuals within Lunenburg County and some from outside contacted Cox offering donations of materials and even a brand-new sewing machine. The seamstresses like to imagine how thrilled the little girls in Mexico will be with the fashions that will be theirs when the box is unpacked.
