Kembely Shante Alexander

Kembely Shante Alexander was born August 16, 1979 in Farmville, Virginia and gained her wings on November 8, 2018 at Halifax Memorial Medical Center, Roanoke, Rapids North Carolina.

At an early age Kem was baptized and joined Bible Way Church, which is now Cornerstone of Deliverance. Also at an early age she joined the Girl Scout Association which she enjoyed for many years. Kem attended the Lunenburg County school system and earned her high school diploma from Central Senior High School in 1997.

Kem was a devoted mother who battled diabetes for numerous years but stayed strong for her children until she was called home. “A mother holds her children’s hands for a while but their hearts forever.”

She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Lewis Alexander, grandmother, Easter Webb Epps and grandfather, James Webb.

Kem leaves to cherish her loving memory one daughter, Bianca Ashanti Shante Ragsdale, one son Keshawn Demond Ragsdale; her mother, Betty Alexander, two sisters Angela (Linwood) Lawson and Crystal Alexander, on brother, Norris Alexander, three nieces, Khristie, Keona, and Lin-Ayjiah; three nephews, Dayvone, LaDarius and Linwood, Jr.; a special Companion, Bernard Ragsdale, and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

Kem also leaves behind long-time friends Lisa Ragsdale, Florene Lambert, Renata Smith and Tara Hickson-Harris.

Funeral services were held Friday, November 16, 2 p.m. at Cornerstone of Deliverance Church, Blackstone Road., Kenbridge with James E. Shelton Bishop, pastor. Interment in church cemetery.
