An accident in Lunenburg County claimed the life of a woman with ties to the area.

According to a report from Virginia State Police, Julie A. Marshall Kidd, 30, of Charlotte Court House, died at the scene of the accident, which occurred Saturday at 2:35 a.m. on Route 637, north of Route 718.

“A 2004 Pontiac Grand Am was traveling along Route 637 when it ran off the right side of the highway,” police officials cited. “The driver over-corrected, which caused the car to cross back over Route 637 and run off the left side of the highway and into a ditch.”

Police said Julie was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident.

“The crash remains under investigation,” police said.

CJ Marshall, Julie’s brother, said Julie loved her family, the outdoors and loved being with children.

“Growing up as a kid, she and I had a pretty special bond,” CJ said.

CJ said Julie was raised in the Town of Victoria.
