Friday, Nov. 16, four Friends of Turning Point Healing Retreat Center packed up orange bags in their backpacks, checked for work gloves and paired up with stabbers and grabbers. JoAnne and John Stugart headed out in one direction as Ruth Brown and Debbie Vigneri took to the halfway mark on Double Bridges Road, to work the opposite end. The mission was the continued road cleanup of the second adopted mile on Double Bridges Road. Their motivation was to represent the Healing Retreat Center called Turning Point to fulfill its mission to serve the community in beneficial ways.

Two weeks earlier The Friends of Turning Point Healing Retreat Center collected two tires, 17 bags of trash, part of a bumper and a hamper. Inspired by John, the group decided to finish the second mile before the weather turned too cold. Together they collected 20 bags of trash, one tire and an old turntable record player.

Afterward the four shared apple cider, fresh hot baked rolls, and stuffed peppers from JoAnne’s and Johns garden. Laughter and a sense of a job well-done pervaded the autumn atmosphere.

The next scheduled cleanup is Friday, March 29 and 30 from 2-5 p.m., each day. For more information or to help with the next cleanup call (434) 808-1575, email info@turningpointhealing.org, or register online at www.turningpointhealing.org.
