Bank reports debit card issues

Benchmark Community Bank, which has branches in Lunenburg County among other localities, reported that customers have experienced issues with debit cards Friday. A representative of the bank said in a statement that it is working with a provider to rectify the situation. Credit cards have not been impacted, the statement cited. Read the full statement below:

Earlier today, Benchmark Community Bank was one of several banks whose debit cards were affected by a situation impacting their debit card provider. As of mid-afternoon on Friday, January 11, 2019, most services have been restored. Benchmark’s Operations Team is working with the provider to achieve as quickly as possible full restoration of debit card services for the bank’s debit card  customers. Benchmark credit cards have not been impacted. Customers experiencing difficulty with their debit card are encouraged to check with their local Benchmark branch for assistance. As information is available, updates are being posted on the bank’s Facebook page (bcbonline), mobile app, and website (www.bcbonline.com).
