Meherrin Fire & Rescue responded to a call on Saturday at 03:42 AM for a reported structure fire at 5284 Springfield Road.

Meherrin Fire and EMS Chief Trey Pyle reported, “First arriving Engine found a single-story wood frame structure with fire showing from the front and roof. Mutual aid was requested from Keysville Fire and Victoria Fire.” He went on to add, “The structure suffered major damage on half the house with heat and smoke damage on the remaining. There were no injuries reported and all units cleared the scene around 05:30. The homeowner did not require any assistance with housing.”

According to Chief Pyle the cause of the fire is undetermined.
