Volunteer horse training challenge

Central Virginia Horse Rescue has been accepted in a horse training challenge put on by the HSUS Forever Foundation Training Program. As a part of this challenge Central Virginia Horse Rescue is looking for volunteers who want to learn to work with its horses. You do not have to have horse experience to participate and this challenge is a non-riding challenge.
Central Virginia Horse Rescue believes that this training will help improve the adoptability of its horses and training its volunteers will help more horses in the future.
“I am excited about the opportunity to learn new training methods that will help us get our horses ready for adoption and to be able to share this experience and knowledge with our volunteers,” says Belesa Thompson, Equine Program Manager at Central Virginia Horse Rescue.
If you are interested in participating, Central Virginia Horse Rescue is taking applications through Feb. 24. Applicants will need to be able to watch the video training and spend an hour or two working with a horse each week for 60 days. Contact Thompson at (434) 233-2108.
