Dr. Mary Cabrera, in a letter to patients, confirmed that she will be leaving the Town of Victoria Centra office at 1418 Sixth St.

Dr. Cabrera is expected to relocate at the Centra Medical Group walk-in facility in the Town of Farmville April 1.

“I have enjoyed my time caring for patients in Victoria,” Cabrera said in the letter. “It has been an honor and a privilege to work with you and your families.”

“I understand that this will be a difficult transition; however, I will assist in any way possible during this time,” Cabrera said in the letter.

Cabrera has been at the Victoria office for 10 years. A doctor succeeding Dr. Cabrera has not yet been announced. According to Centra officials they are in the process of recruiting a doctor for the Victoria location.

Cabrera offered nearby providers who could assist during the transition. This includes Hope Alexander, nurse practitioner and West Pulliam, physician assistant in Burkeville. The Burkeville office can be reached at (434) 767-5511.

Greta Dunn and Cynthia Felton, nurse practitioners, are located in Keysville. The Keysville office can be reached at (434) 736-8801.

Dr. David Pruitt., Dr. Giuliana Allega, Dr. Supyia Mannepalli, Steve Stone, physicians assistant, Cyndi Bender, nurse practitioner, Alexandra March, nurse practitioner (joining April 1) and Dr. Parker Schmidt (joining Sept. 1) are located in Farmville. The Farmville office can be reached at (434) 315-5340.

At the February Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors meeting, Love’s Mill Supervisor Edward Pennington addressed reports of Dr. Cabrera leaving the Victoria office and expressed concern about potential impact on patients, particularly for senior citizens.

“This is the place they have been going all of the time,” Pennington said, who expressed concern about patients traveling outside the county for appointments.
