JV Lady Kavs finish as VCC runners-up

The Kenston Forest School junior varsity (JV) girls basketball team lost in a heartbreaker to Brunswick Academy, 30-28 in the Virginia Colonial Conference (VCC) tournament championship game at Richard Bland College on Friday.
Kenston Forest Athletic Director Joe Maione said the Lady Kavaliers “played such a good game” but were hurt by missed free throws.
Leading Kenston Forest in scoring were sophomore Mya Mahaney, with 12 points, and eighth-grader Hanna Mahaney, with nine points.
The Lady Kavs reached the tournament title game by defeating visiting Southampton Academy 45-38 in the semifinals Feb. 20. Mya Mahaney recorded 16 points in that game, and freshman Gracie Gunn finished with 15 points.
