Thomas Edward Hopson, Jr.

Thomas Edward Hopson, Jr. born April 7, 1937 in Lunenburg County Virginia to Thomas Edward and Julia Wilson Hopson.

He received his early education in the public schools of Lunenburg County Virginia.

At an early age he was baptized and joined Bethany Baptist Church Kenbridge, Virginia.

Thomas later moved to Newark, NJ. where he met his first wife; to this union they were blessed with three children. Later in life they were divorced.

In 1968 Thomas met Mollie Thomas and they were married in 1995, and were blessed to raise eight children together.

He was employed at Columbus Lumber Company in New Jersey until he retired in 1990.

In 2001, Thomas and Mollie returned to Virginia and purchased a home to live out their retirement. They rejoined the Bethany Baptist Church, and served as the Sexton of the Church for 10 years. After serving for 10 years, they decided to pass the job to someone else and remained faithful members until his death.

Thomas loved sports, and fishing.

God called him and he answered on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at his home in Kenbridge, Virginia. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Julia Hopson, and one son Kelven Hopson.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving devoted wife Mollie M. Hopson: children, Bridget Hopson, Pierre Hopson, Sharon, Debbie, Iris, Diane, Eric, Johnathan, Kathy, and Lisa, twenty-six grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren and four great–great grandchildren: one sister, Bessie Lee, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Bethany Baptist Church, 5968 Plank Road, Kenbridge, Virginia with the Reverend Carlton O. Clark, Jr., Pastor.

Interment was in Bethany Baptist Church, Kenbridge, Virginia.
