Piedmont Senior Resources (PSR) has room to grow with its home-delivered meal program for homebound seniors age 60 and older.
PSR has room for roughly 30 additional senior clients, according to Director of Nutrition and Transportation Jordan Miles.
“We deliver five frozen meals to each client once a week,” Miles said. “Often, our friendly drivers are the only people our homebound senior clients see on a consistent basis. Our professional drivers check in on them and assess their health and status when delivering the meals. We’re in the homes of hundreds of seniors weekly.”
The meals, which are delivered between 8 a.m.-4 p.m., have low salt and are heart healthy, nutritionally balanced, easy to heat in a microwave or oven, and include a new variety of menu options through a new partnership with nonprofit FeedMore in Richmond.
“In addition to our weekly meals, we deliver walkers, canes, wheelchairs, shower chairs, crutches and other assistive devices to our senior clients,” Miles said. “A vast majority of these items are donated to our agency by our partners and those living in the community.”
PSR delivers to Amelia and Cumberland on Fridays, Buckingham and Lunenburg on Tuesdays, Prince Edward on Mondays, Nottoway on Wednesdays, and Charlotte on Thursdays.
