KFS Middle Schools Forensics wins again

The Kenston Forest School (KFS) Middle School Forensics Team traveled to Amelia Academy to compete in the Association of Virginia Academies Tournament March 7. Teams from the following schools competed, Amelia Academy, Brunswick Academy, Isle of Wight Academy, KFS, Southampton Academy and Tidewater Academy. KFS won overall second place for fifth grade, overall first place for sixth grade, and overall second place for seventh grade. KFS also earned the Robert Crawford Award for overall wins and the James T. Davidson Award for earning the highest quality points.

Fifth grade: Mariah Martin – Girls’ Prose Reading, third place; Caleb Yeatts Boys’ Poetry Reading, absent due to illness; Lillian Smyth – Girls’ Poetry Reading, first place; Nathaniel Schodt – Boys’ Monologue, second place

Bryce Davidson – Girls’ Monologue, first place; Kensleigh Stock – Serious Public Speaking, honorable mention; Elena Roberts – Humorous Public Speaking, second place; David Rimon – Spelling, first place.

Sixth grade: Wyatt Szabo – Boys’ Prose Reading, first place; Avery Gunn – Girls’ Prose Reading, second place; Reid Thomas- Boys’ Poetry Reading, second place; Ann Turner Glenn – Girls’ Poetry Reading, first place; Kyle Shaw – Boys’ Monologue, third place; Libbie Calhoun– Girls’ Monologue, second place; Mary Katelyn Hite – Serious Public Speaking, first place; Addison McDaniel – Humorous Public Speaking, first place; Lily Coleman – Spelling, honorable mention.

Seventh grade: Kyle Williams – Boys’ Prose Reading, first place; Kirsten Jackson – Girls’ Prose Reading, first place; Isaiah Bivens – Boys’ Poetry Reading, second place; Sadie Henshaw– Girls’ Poetry Reading, first place; Will Davis – Boys’ Monologue, first place; Mackenzie Harmon – Girls’ Monologue, absent due to illness; Dennis Dufresne – Serious Public Speaking, first place; Bobby Hawthorne – Humorous Public Speaking, first place; Ross Croarkin – Spelling, honorable mention.

The KFS Middle School Team was coached by Nancy Hawthorne, Sallie Ann Buchanan and Erin Duncanson.
