Kindness

With so much going on in the world we can forget how much kindness is out there. I was searching the internet and came across a few instances that brought joy to my heart.

One instance was a young man at a supermarket who asked a man if he could carry his food for a box of donuts. The man bought the teenager some food and drove him home. There he saw the teenager lived with his mother who was ill. The man was filled with compassion and started a “Go FundMe” page for the family. The page raised over $103,000! Needless to say, the funds were crucial and the family was so thankful that a stranger was willing to help.

Another article I read was about a mailman that went out of his way to show love to the dogs on his route by giving little treats out when he delivered the mail. The dogs looked forward to his daily visit to drop the mail off. One day when he went to one of the houses with a dog, the owner told him that the dog passed and thanked him for being so kind. The owner gave him a bag of treats and asked if he would give them out to other dogs. The mailman took the treats and as he passed them out on the route, he ensured everyone knew it was from the family.

It doesn’t matter who you are, a kind gesture can brighten up a person’s day. An older woman was eating alone when three younger men decided they would invite her to their table to share a meal and companionship. The older lady agreed and the four of them just had a wonderful meal. I felt something when the older woman said “she believes that God placed the four of them together” and I agree.

It’s so easy to be kind and it takes so little effort. Kindness comes in big packages as well as small packages. The next time you meet someone, smile, it may be the only smile they receive that day.

Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Be blessed in Jesus’ name.
