Marion Delores Chapman Eggleston was born on September 25, 1946 in Nottoway County, Virginia to the late James and Mary Louise Chapman. She received her education at Luther H. Foster High School in Nottoway County.

At an early age she joined Eleven Oak Baptist Church in Crewe, Virginia and later moved her membership to New Bethel Baptist Church. Marion was a past member of Worthy Matron of the Pride of Victoria Chapter #201 Order of Eastern Star P.H.A. of VA.

She leaves to mourn her memory a devoted husband of 47 years, John Lewis Eggleston; two daughters, Dana Allen (Wyane) of Atlanta, GA and Melissa Eggleston Garnett of Chester; two sons, Marcus Eggleston (Patricia) of Richmond and John D. Eggleston (Tiffany) of South Hill; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers; four aunts; one uncle; four sisters-in-law; five brothers-on-law; one god-daughter; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday, April 21 at New Bethel Baptist Church, Meherrin, with the Rev. Haney Thoams, Jr., pastor. Interment was in the church cemetery.
