A public hearing to consider the proposed Fiscal Year (FY) 2019-2020 budget for the Town of Kenbridge is scheduled for Tuesday, May 21, 6:55 p.m. at the Kenbridge Town Council Room at 511 E. Fifth Ave.

Town Manager Robyn Fowler said the proposed Kenbridge budget could see potential increases to the personal property and real estate tax, as well as fees with garbage and auto licenses.

Fowler said the public hearing to consider the increases on taxes was held during the March council meeting. The new rate is $1.44 for personal property tax and 44 cents for real estate tax. Both went up 3 cents, Fowler said.

Fowler said garbage fees are proposed to rise $1 and auto license fees are proposed to rise from $20 to $25.

Revenue from real estate taxes, according to a comparison of the proposed budget from the proposed 2018-2019 budget, is set to be $310,826.88 compared with $290,000.

Personal property tax could see a potential increase of more than $10,000 with the proposed 2019-2020 tax revenue being $97,726 versus $87,000 from the proposed 2018-2019 budget.

Revenue from garbage fees could total $123,700 for FY 2019-2020 versus $118,162 for FY 2018-2019.

Revenue from license fees could rise to $34,825 for the proposed budget, compared with $30,000 for FY 2018-2019.

The total proposed budget for FY 2019-2020 anticipated revenue and expenditures is $1,066,160.88. The total for FY 2018-2019 was $1,013,441.33.

Water fund anticipated revenue and expenditures are lower for FY 2019-2020, coming to $180,207.92 versus $198,580.81 for FY 2018-2019.

Sewer fund revenue and expenditures are set to be the same for FY 2019-2020 from the previous fiscal year 2018-2019, at $389,413.
