An evening of solos and duets

Published 10:45 am Wednesday, June 5, 2019

On Friday, June 14, at 7 p.m., Lunenburg County Community Concerts will present an evening of solos and duets from two exceptionally talented friends: Sue Wilkinson Palmer and Theresa Peterson-Way. Pre-concert piano music by Stacy Sharpe Branch will begin at 6:40 p.m. In honor of Flag Day, patriotic music will be included in the evening’s selections.

Palmer obtained a bachelor’s degree in Music Education at Longwood and has worked in the public school systems of Prince George, Lunenburg and Charlotte counties. Currently, Palmer works at Piedmont Geriatric Hospital in Burkeville as a music activity specialist. She attends Perseverance Christian Church, and is a member of its choir and Praise Group.

Way has been a professional singer for 30-plus years, singing with the Navy Band and several dance/show bands. She and her husband, Larry, moved to Lunenburg County from Woodbridge in 2014. They began attending Perseverance Christian Church and Way joined the choir and the Praise Group. She was diagnosed with cancer in 2016 but says that she is, “so blessed to now be in remission and can sing again. I’m so grateful to God and honored to sing praises to our Lord!” Her new single, “The Way That You Love Me,” co-written and performed by Way, was produced for cancercanrock. org and is now available on iTunes. The song, an interview with Way, and a performance with The Admirals can be found on YouTube (search under Theresa Peterson and The Admirals).
