The Fiscal Year (FY) 2019-2020 budget for the Town of Kenbridge and three zoning appeals were approved during the Kenbridge Town Council meeting on June 18.

No public comments were received during the public hearings, according to Kenbridge Town Treasurer Marsha Nash.

The FY 2019-2020 budget includes increases of personal property and real estate tax. The new rate is $1.44 for personal property tax and 44 cents for real estate tax. Both went up 3 cents.

Garbage fees are proposed to rise $1 and auto license fees are proposed to rise from $20 to $25.

The first zoning appeal came from ABC Recycling at 500 Main St. and Hickory Road. The appeal was to adjust maximum square footage sign variance to allow construction of two new signs, one on each road.

The second and third appeals came from James and Ann-Marie Bryant at 607 E. Fifth Ave., and John and Kristin Hite at 211 E. Fifth Ave.

The Bryants and the Hites requested changes to their side yard setbacks to allow for construction of new garages.
