Julia Dunigan Saunders, homemaker of Victoria VA, died June 28, 2019. Julia was born to Julius and Jenny Dunigan, February 3, 1925 in Charlotte County VA. She was married to Frank William Saunders, February 15, 1946 and celebrated 65 years of marriage. Julia was a devoted Methodist and was a member of the Victoria United Methodist Church for over 60 years. She took great pride in volunteering for the Hermitage Guild. She was a member of Eastern Star Chapter 15 and was a member of VFW Auxiliary #9954. She was a past president of the Lunenburg Homemakers. “Judy”was known for her expertise in packing sandwiches, securing them from coal dust or nuclear fallout. She was also a skillful canner. She pickled, preserved, dried, and froze anything and everything that FW grew in his large garden and had fair ribbons to recognize her canning talent.
Julia is survived by her daughters, Augustine Allen and Dywana Saunders-Confroy, son-in-law Bill Confroy Jr., grandchildren Taylor Allen, Cabel Allen and the twins, Liam and Carrington Confroy. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Saunders, her sisters, Lavonia Dunigan and Irene Worley and brothers, Dallas Dunigan and Elroy Dunigan. She will be missed by the cats and wild birds of Tenth Street. Donations should be made to Victoria United Methodist Church, Victoria Baptist Church, or your local SPCA.
