Carroll Millard Ghee, affectionately known as Carl, Pops and Pete, was born in Lunenburg County, Virginia on February 29, 1928 to the late Thomas and Ellen Callahan Gee. He transitioned to his heavenly home on July 13, 2019 in Chesterfield, Virginia at the age of 91 years.

Carroll received his education in Lunenburg County Public Schools. He was baptized at Bethany Baptist Church, Kenbridge, Virginia and attended Bethany faithfully until his last few years when his health began to fail. He was a long-time deacon, reaching emeritus status in his older age. He worked diligently in several positions, including assistant Superintendent of Church School, a member of the Missionary Ministry and the driver of the church van. Deacon Ghee loved to sing and was a part of several singing groups such as the REN Chorus, Bethany Men’s Chorus, as well as a steadfast member of the Church senior choir.

Outside of Church, he was a farmer, school bus driver, van driver, factory worker and barber. Most customers who received haircuts from him remember the “cluck” on top of their head when he finished. He was a hard-working man who did not mind lending a helping hand to anyone in need. He enjoyed working with his tractor, cutting grass, hunting and taking care of his dogs. The highlight of his day was playing checkers and his “Trouble” game with his grandchildren. He also loved to eat good food, especially if it was prepared by his special daughter- in- law. Carroll will always be remembered for his love for his Church, his community and most of all, his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Cora Bland Ghee; sisters: Ernestine, Geraldine and Hazel and brothers: Thomas, Sharpie, Timothy, James and Dennis.

He is survived by his children: Carroll, Jr. (Linda), Earl (Karen), Pheobee (David), Donald (Brenda), Sandra (Virgil), Dwain (Laura) and stepson, Harvey Bland; three sisters: Barbara, Vera and Arlene (Gene); two brothers: Calvin (Harriett) and Harold Waddell (Brenda); one brother-in-law: George Jones; eleven sisters-in-law: Virginia, Rosa, Edith, Marion, Patricia, Virginia Tucker (Jessie), Dorothy Johnson (Kenneth), Carrie Hobbs, Ella Bland, Josephine Baskerville (George) and Gloria Bland.

He leaves to cherish his memory ten grandchildren: Stacey Anderson (Bryant), Jerome Gee, Tameika Dreher (Marshall), Lakisha Gregory (David), Keuandra Udoh (Davidson), Sarah Jackson, Earl Gee, II, Donald Gee, II, Brittany Perry (Dwight) and Isabella Gee; two step-grandchildren: Antonio Godwin and Nicholas St Sing; seventeen great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, church family and friends.
