The Lunenburg County Historical Society (LCHS) has announced that the theme of its annual photography contest is “Reflections of Lunenburg’s Yesterday.” The society is seeking striking photographs that reflect any historic aspect of Lunenburg County. The image must have been photographed in Lunenburg County within 12 months ending Sept. 14, 2019.
Amateur photographers of any age are eligible to enter the contest. There is no entrance fee. Only one entry per contestant is allowed. Contestants do not have to be Lunenburg residents.
Contestants are to submit one unframed 5” x 7” print, either black and white or full color, mounted without glass covering on a mat, cardboard or poster board. Minor digital enhancement is permitted, but images that have been significantly modified or appear unnatural will be disqualified. Original digital image or negative must be available to judges on request. The judges may declare no winners in a category. Entries will not be returned.
The print, unless accompanied by a fully completed copy of the contest entry form (available at the two Lunenburg public libraries), may be rejected. If you would like to enter the contest but cannot get to either the Ripberger library or the Victoria library to pick up the entry form, you may email woodpark1@earthlink.net to receive a digital copy of the form. Please write “LCHS PHOTO CONTEST” in the subject line of your email.
The entry must be received at one of the following locations during business hours on or before the deadline of Sept. 14:
· Ripberger Public Library, 117 S. Broad St., Kenbridge, VA 23944 (434) 676-3456
· Victoria Public Library, 1417 Seventh St., Victoria, VA 23974 (434) 696-3416
Professionally trained photographers will judge the entries. Judging for each entry will be based on creativity, quality, and originality as relevant to the stated theme. Winners in the two categories (color; black and white) will be announced in October. Cash prizes will be awarded.
