Norman Winfield Walker, best known as (Shorty) Walker, was born January 24, 1958 to Alvin L. Sr. and Fannie Robinson Walker. He departed this life on Monday, August 19, 2019 at VCU Memorial Health Center South Hill, Virginia.
He was educated in Brunswick County Public Schools and graduated in 1977. At an early age he was baptized and joined the Rosebud Baptist Church in Dundas, Virginia under the leadership of now late Rev. Clarence A. Greenhill, where he joined the choir under Mrs. Nancy Johnson.
He married Dot Stegall and to this union they were blessed with two children.
He was employed at Virginia Marble for 38 years.
Shorty is preceded in death by his father, Alvin Walker and brother Alvin Langston Walker, Jr.
He leaves to cherish fond memories: his loving mother, Fannie L. Walker of Kenbridge, Virginia, one daughter, Sharvett Wood of Kenbridge, Virginia, one son Tony Walker of Fredericksburg, Virginia, 2 sisters, Deborah Fraize of Jessup, MD.; Armenta Reese, Huntsville, AL., 2 brothers; James Kenneth Walker of Petersburg, Virginia, and Anthony (Selia) Walker, of Dundas, Virginia, one aunt, Emma Robinson of Hampton, Virginia, one great-aunt, Elizabeth Stokes of Roanoke, Virginia, 4 grandchildren, Dehemian Wood, Shaheim Watson, Doheim Watson and Dashel Walker; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Ann, and Audrey Walker, both of Kenbridge, Virginia, a very special Companion, Mary Jefferson of Kenbridge, Virginia, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A memorial service was held Saturday, August 24 at noon at Rosebud Baptist Church, Dundas with the Rev. Waverly E. Brown, Sr., pastor and the Rev. Richard Goode providing words of comfort.
S.P. Jones and Son Funeral Home served the family.
