The William Taylor Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, (NSDAR) celebrated the 96th birthday of its only living charter member, Alice Rudd Roby of Kenbridge, on Aug. 16. Over 30 chapter members and family members attended the celebration luncheon at Mildred’s Meals in Kenbridge.
Mildred’s Meals was an appropriate location for the event because the organizing regent of the chapter, Lena Parrish Allen, had previously operated “Mrs. Allen’s Tea Room” at the same site in the past.
Chapter Regent Linda Bishop Bagley read a descriptive biography of Roby and presented the honoree with an arrangement of a dozen of her favorite flowers, long-steamed pink roses. Roby also received a framed certificate recognizing her 65 years of service to NSDAR. Cupcakes in honor of Roby’s birthday were enjoyed by all present.
