Chargers fall 28-8 to Altavista

Central High School’s varsity football team lost 28-8 to visiting Altavista High School in its season opener Friday night. The Chargers struggled significantly on offense. Their lone touchdown came from senior fullback Daquan “Lee Man Lee” Lee. Leading the team in rushing was sophomore running back Nyjae Carter with 30 yards on three carries. The Central senior backfield trio of T’zion Wilkerson, Khalil Wood and Lee combined for 49 yards on 27 carries. Despite the loss, the Chargers (0-1) had some standouts on defense. Senior lineman Kawonté Ragsdale led the way with 13 tackles, including six solo and four for a loss, and Wood, at linebacker, had 11 tackles, including seven solo.
