SEPTEMBER 14

LIGHTING OF THE LAKE, 5 p.m. at Twin Lakes State Park. Paper lanterns will be available to decorate in memory of the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001. The ceremony will begin at 7 p.m., followed by the opportunity to launch the lanterns on the lake. Meet at the concession stand. There will be no parking fee during the ceremony. SAUNDERS MEMORIAL WHITE CANE WALK, 7:30 a.m. beginning at Food Lion in Victoria and ends at Shopper Value in Kenbridge. Your donations will assist researchers in preventing visual impairments. SEPTEMBER 15

DEADLINE FOR PHOTO CONTEST, noon, sponsored by Lunenburg County Historical Society. Submit your photo at either Victoria or Ripberger (Kenbridge) library. Rules and applications available there in advance of deadline.

23RD PASTOR ANNIVERSARY, 1:30 p.m. at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church for Pastor C.L. Hobbs, Jr. and First Lady Jean Hobbs. Everyone is welcome.

SEPTEMBER 16

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT, 5-7 p.m. at Kenbridge park. Featured will be bouncy houses, free hot dogs, music, balloon twisting, face painting, Virginia state police, fire trucks and police vehicles. Event is free and open to the public.

SEPTEMBER 17

SEPSIS AWARENESS PROGRAM, 4 p.m. at VCU Health CMH Center at the C.A.R.E. building. Speaker will be Dr. Yub Raj Sedhai.

TOWN COUNCIL MEETING, 7 p.m. at Kenbridge Town Hall, 511 East Fifth Ave., #2, Kenbridge.

SEPTEMBER 22

DEACONS, DEACONESS AND TRUSTEE DAY, 3 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Kenbridge. The Rev. Diane Weeks from Mt. Oliver Baptist Church will be the guest speaker along with Spring Hill Baptist Church choir. Everyone is welcome.

SEPTEMBER 23-27

FALLS PREVENTION WORKSHOP, 11 a.m. hosted by Piedmont Senior Resources at each of the eight Friendship Cafe sites. Event is free. Enjoy a hot meal. Seniors 60 and older are welcome. Call (434) 767- 5588 for an application to attend this event.

OCTOBER 5

TOUCH A TRUCK, 10 a.m-4 p.m. at Meherrin Volunteer Fire & Rescue. Vehicles to include, emergency vehicles, farm equipment, construction equipment and lots more. This is a family fun event featuring food, fun activities and more.
