Attention all gardening enthusiasts —at the South Central Fair in Chase City this October, there will be a Miniature Container Garden contest in the agriculture building.
If you love plants and gardening, give this a try – or you may already have some of these adorable creations you can bring to enter and display. There are three categories for the entries:
• Moss Garden — moss must be the dominant plant, can include other plants and accessories.
• Fairy Garden — must include a figurine, such as fairy, gnome, angel, animal or human.
•Oriental Garden — done in an Oriental manner.
There is also a category for youth.
Contest Rules: Must include live plants (no artificial plants). No rule on size or scale, but try to limit your container size to 20” deep and wide and 8-10” high, so it can fit on shelves for viewing and you can carry it in. Include accessories that enhance a scene such as house, bird bath, furniture, rocks, bridge, garden arch, walkway, etc. Can include self-contained battery-operated water feature or lights. No electricity will be available. Do not use real flames.
Bring your entries to the agriculture building on Sunday, Oct. 6, from 2-6 p.m. or on Monday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. This will be a fun display that the public will appreciate. If you have any questions, call Belinda at (434) 294-4691.
