Lady Kavs extend win streak to 7

Kenston Forest School’s varsity girls volleyball team recorded two victories last week to extend its active win streak to seven matches. On Sept. 24, the Lady Kavaliers faced host Banner Christian School in a matchup between undefeated conference teams, and the Lady Kavs won 3-2: 17-25, 24-26, 25-15, 25-19, 16-14. They were led by Shelby Gunn, with 14 kills and nine aces; Hanna Mahaney, with 10 kills; Molly Epperson, with nine kills; Mya Mahaney, with 35 assists; and Taylor Maione, pictured at left, with six aces and 18 digs. On Sept. 25, Kenston Forest topped visiting Fuqua School 3-0: 25-9, 25-22, 25-22. Gunn had eight kills and five aces, Hanna Mahaney had eight kills, Mya Mahaney had 20 assists and Maione had five aces and 10 digs. The Lady Kavs entered this week with a 9-5 overall record, including 5-0 in the Virginia Colonial Conference.
