A man identified by authorities as person of interest in a shooting in Lunenburg County earlier this month has been arrested in Nottoway County, the Lunenburg County Sheriff’s Office said.
Ryiqual Tyisean Beasley was wanted on an unrelated felony charge for violation of a court order and for questioning in this matter, a release from the Lunenburg sheriff’s office said.
On Friday, Oct. 18, at approximately 2 a.m., Lunenburg deputies responded to reports of a man who had been shot lying on the roadside of Blackstone Road, the release said. Arriving at the scene, deputies discovered Ra’Deeka Jermaine Couch, 31, of Victoria, with a single gunshot wound. Couch was transported to VCU Medical Center where he remains in stable condition, the department noted.
After a preliminary investigation, Beasley was identified as a person of interest in the investigation, noted the release.
“This is all we can release right now as we are still investigating the incident,” Major D.J. Penland said.
The sheriff’s office had been urging anyone with information about Beasley’s whereabouts to contact them and had warned he should be “considered armed and dangerous.”
Consequently, Sheriff Arthur Townsend thanked the public for all the tips and assistance in locating Beasley.
Meanwhile, the investigation is still ongoing as to the exact events that occurred and Townsend is urging anyone with information to contact the Lunenburg County Sheriff’s Office at (434) 696-4452. Persons wishing to remain anonymous can contact the Lunenburg County Crime Stoppers at (434) 696-3100. Information provided that leads to an arrest could earn up to a $1,000 reward.
