Chamber held candidate forum

The Lunenburg Chamber of Commerce hosted a community forum for candidates running for the position of Lunenburg County Commissioner of the Revenue on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at the Kenbridge Town Hall.

Commentator for the event was Director of the Blackstone Chamber of Commerce Beverley Ambs.

Running for Commission of Revenue are incumbent Elizabeth “Liz” Y. Hamlett, Charon Coffee Price and R. L. “Bobby Thompson.

During the forum each candidate was given the opportunity to give an opening statement. Following the opening statement questions previously provided by the community were asked of the candidates, with each candidate having four minutes to provide their answer.

Approximately 50 people were in attendance.

The chamber also extended an invitation to the candidates running for Lunenburg County Sheriff — incumbent Arthur Townsend Jr. and Michael B. Landry. Accepting the invitation was Landry.

Lunenburg County District 4 Board of Supervisors incumbent C.R. “Randy” Slayton who is challenged by newcomer Timothy V. Hatley for the seat were also invited, however did not attend.
