Tyler appointed to chair State Education Committee

Delegate Roslyn Tyler, who was re-elected on Nov. 5 to her eighth term to the Virginia House of Delegates, was appointed by Speaker Elect-Eileen Filler-Corn to serve as chairperson of the state Education Committee in the Virginia General Assembly. She is the first African American to chair this top committee in Virginia history.

Del. Tyler has served as a member of the Education Committee for 14 years and was instrumental in increasing teachers’ salaries, increasing funding K-12 education and making college tuition more affordable for college students. Additionally, Del. Tyler is a ranking member on the House of Appropriations and Militia, Police and Public Safety committee.

Del. Tyler is appreciative of her district constituents support and looks forward to returning to Richmond in January to continue addressing her constituents’ priorities of increasing the minimum wage, expanding broadband/high speed internet to more rural areas, job creation, affordable health care/ prescription drugs and protecting hunting rights.
