The Community Center in Victoria which has been serving the community since 1941 is in need of extensive repairs.

According to Chairman of the Victoria-Luneburg Community Centre James Elam, many repairs have been done over the years in order to keep the center operating. Now the building has to have repairs that require new concrete fittings to level the building, along with major repairs to the floors, these expenses will cost approximately $20,000. Elam noted that repairs will almost deplete the funds necessary to keep the Community center running.

Over the years the center has served the community in many ways — in years past the county schools held basketball games, civic events and proms. In more recent years the center has been used for private parties and the Autumn Days celebration.

Elam is asking for contributions to help keep the center in operation. Residents may send contributions to VLCC, P.O. Box 11, Victoria VA 23974.
