Kenbridge man dies in crash

An investigation is ongoing after a two-vehicle crash in Madison County that resulted in the death of a Kenbridge man. 

A press release from Sergeant Brent Coffey of Virginia State Police (VSP) says that a 2002 Dodge Durango driven by Kenneth W. Edmondson, 56, of Kenbridge, was traveling south on Rt. 231 at 2:05 p.m. Jan. 30. 

The Durango crossed a double solid yellow centerline and collided head-on with a northbound 2011 Chevy Malibu being driven by Rodney M. Coates, 50, of Banco. 

Both men died at the scene of the accident as a result of their injuries. Neither victims were wearing a seatbelt. 

The crash, the release says, remains under investigation at this time. A medical emergency is being considered as a factor in the accident.

VSP was assisted by its Division Two Accident Reconstruction Team, Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Madison County Fire and Rescue and VDOT.
