Claude Littleton Barnes Jr., 98, of Kenbridge, Va. died January 30, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Littleton Barnes and Lillian Hardy Barnes; siblings, Thomas Barnes, Edward Barnes, Lois Payne, Lill Parks and Earl Barnes; wife, Helen Morris Barnes; son, Lee Barnes and grandson, Dave M Barnes. He is survived by his daughter, Pam Wilkinson (Robert); his son Scott Barnes (Judy); five grandchildren, Jeff Barnes (Ashley), Gus Wilkinson (Lauren) Wil Barnes (Mary), Michelle Barnes and Lena Puryear (Rick); eight great-grandchildren, Ryan Barnes, Gracie Barnes, Cade Wilkinson, Allie Puryear, Clay Wilkinson, Libby Barnes, Samuel Barnes and Caroline Puryear.

A retired farmer, Littleton was always dedicated to his Lord, his family, our community and our country. He served his country in the U.S. Army (Master Sergeant) during World War II, was a member of American Legion Post 0147, served for six terms on the Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors, and twenty five years on the Virginia Bright Flue Cured Tobacco Commission was Lunenburg County citizen of the year in 1985, former Lochleven Boy Scout Troop Leader, member and past president of Central High School Athletic Boosters Club, member and past president of the Kenbridge Ruritan Club, member and past president of Lunenburg County Farm Bureau and was honored with the 1993 Lunenburg County Farm Family Award based upon the family’s agriculture accomplishments with strong emphasis on the contribution of the family to our community and our country, former 4-H leader and former recipient of the Outstanding 4-H Alumnus Award for Lunenburg County.

Littleton loved and was a member of the Kenbridge United Methodist Church where services were held Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020 at 3 p.m. Interment in the Kenbridge Heights Cemetery.
