Richard Ervin Hines was born August 18, 1950 to John Nathan and Etta Odessa Booth Hines. He was one of ten children.

At an early age he was baptized and joined Macedonia Baptist Church Keysville, Virginia.

Richard married Dorothy M. Ingram on November 23, 1974 and to this union four children were born.

He believed in God and kept his faith throughout his illness and was not afraid of death.

Richard was employed with Norfolk and Southern Railroad Company for many years. Richard loved life and his family; he had a passion for hunting and fishing.

Early Wednesday morning, January, 22 2020, God sent his heavenly angels to take another one of his children home.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John Nathan and Etta Odessa Booth Hines; sisters, Mary H. Brown and Vera H. Streat; brothers, Lloyd, Jearl, Bobby, Joe and granddaughter Ti’ara.

He leaves wonderful memories to his loving and devoted wife Dorothy; one daughter, Angela (Marcus) Coles of Victoria, VA; three sons, Richard Jr. of Meherrin, VA; Terrell (Cyntina) of Victoria, VA and Jeffery of Meherrin, VA; eight grandchildren, Da’quan, Tyrin, Tresean Taevyon, Trinyah, Marcus Jr., Paris and Olivia; three siblings, Minister Joyce (Marvin) Richards of Greenbay, VA; Ronnie (Minister Geneva) Hines, Thomas (Bernice) Hines all of Meherrin, VA; A host of brothers-In-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends. Devoted family friends were Tracy Ghee, Becky Bruce, Joyce Lee and Jessica Edmonds.

Services were conducted Tuesday, January, 28, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Bethlehem RZUA Church, Lunenburg, Virginia with the Rev. Pamela Simmons, Pastor. Interment was in the church cemetery.

S.P. Jones and Son Funeral Home served the family.
