Lunenburg County Youth Baseball League (LCYBL) has suspended all organized activities until March 30 in light of concerns surrounding the novel coronavirus, according to a Tuesday, March 17, letter from LCYBL President David Clark.
“This is (a) precautionary measure as at this time, there are still no confirmed cases in Lunenburg County,” he wrote.
As of Tuesday, he indicated in an interview that he was not yet sure how Opening Ceremonies, set for April 3, might be affected but said he would provide an update as soon as possible.
Lunenburg Girls’ Softball (LGS) has suspended all practices until March 30, LGS Commissioner Tim Fowler said Tuesday.
“We plan to start playing games on April 4 with Opening Ceremonies on April 11,” he stated. “We have also moved our BBQ fundraiser from April 4 to April 11. We will look at everything again next week and adjust as needed.”
Dixie Youth Baseball Inc. (DYB) announced Friday, March 13, it was recommending its leagues delay the start of the 2020 DYB regular season in an effort to help stem the spread of COVID-19.
“We request that DYB leagues suspend all activities that involve the gathering of individuals for games and/or practices until after April 4, 2020,” officials said in the Dixie Youth Baseball press release.
