Lunenburg Girls’ Softball (LGS) Commissioner Tim Fowler stated Tuesday afternoon, March 24, that the league has postponed all organized athletic activities for now while still aiming to start the 2020 season eventually.

The delay comes as federal, state and local efforts to limit the spread of COVID-19 ramp up.

“We are going to follow the governor’s mandate and have suspended all practices and games until further notice,” Fowler said. “We have not canceled the season at this point.”

He noted that LGS officials will see how things look in 30 days and what Virginia Gov. Ralph S. Northam says and hopefully make a decision then.

“We would love to get back on the softball field, but safety is our priority right now,” he said.
