The Town of Victoria has announced it will not open its pool this summer.

After several weeks of waiting to see how the start date for Lunenburg County schools may be impacted, the town announced on its web page Wednesday that the pool would not open.

“Even though the governor announced that Virginia will enter Phase III next week there are not many weeks left before the planned beginning of the 20/21 school year for Lunenburg County Public Schools.  With all of this in mind the Victoria Pool will not open for the summer of 2020 but plans are in the works for the summer of 2021,” the notice reads.  “We are very sorry that we cannot provide this amenity for citizens and visitors this year.”

The Victoria Town Council discussed keeping the pool open past the traditional beginning of school date if the opening day for schools were delayed to Labor Day or afterwards due to COVID-19 concerns.
