STEAM nightLongwood University set up an interactive display. So did Hampden-Sydney College, Centra Health and even the Piedmont Soil and Water Conservation District. They were all on hand Thursday, April 13, as Fuqua School held its Family STEAM Night.

The goal of the project was to help potential students and their families learn more about Fuqua’s STEAM curriculum and programming. STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, art and math.

STEAM nightIn addition, several hands-on stations throughout the event gave families the opportunity to experience what is like for their child learning in Fuqua School’s STEAM Lab. Students also proudly displayed their collaborative work from their Mars colony projects, a culminating activity to their year-long study of Mars in STEAM Lab, as well as their science fair projects that had been judged earlier that day.

School officials say the event was well attended and promoted science, STEAM topics and careers, and collaboration while giving students and families a chance to learn more about STEAM resources within the community. We are so appreciative of the partnerships that made this event possible. Stay tuned to learn more about Fuqua School’s next community event.STEAM night
