A box of love

Mary Simmons

Have you ever ignored the gentle voice of Jesus instructing you not to do something? I recently experienced this, knowing that Jesus was speaking to me, but I chose not to listen. He said, “Don’t do it”. Three times without asking why, I disobeyed.

As a consequence, my conscience began to burden me. We never want our consciences to take over as they consistently remind us of our mistakes. However, as believers in Christ, we can recognize His voice when He speaks to us and know that we belong to Him. Sometimes, we may act according to our desires, forgetting the consequences. Yet, we cannot ignore the strange feeling that comes when we do something wrong or are about to do so.

We may sometimes strive to do what is right, but circumstances may hinder us. In such cases, we can always turn to Jesus, who promised never to leave or forsake us. Regardless of our mistakes, when we ask for His forgiveness, He forgives us. Consequently, we will avoid repeating the same mistakes.

I cannot deny or pretend I did not know what I was doing when I failed to listen to Jesus. Although I am not proud of my actions, I asked for His forgiveness and committed not to repeat the same mistake. Remember, it’s never too late to ask for forgiveness and start anew.

It is the same in our everyday lives; Jesus does not force us to be His children but welcomes us. Jesus stands there with open arms, waiting for us.

“And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand. My Father, which gave them Me, is greater than all: and no man is able to pluck them out of My Father’s hand. I and My Father are one.” John 10:28-30.

Be blessed in Jesus’ name.
