MARCH 1 

CHICKEN DINNER — The Palmer Springs Volunteer Fire Department will hold a fried chicken dinner on Friday, March 1, running from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Drive through and eat-in options are available. Plates consisting of fried chicken, green beans, boiled potatoes, roll, dessert and water will be available for $12 per plate. Pre-orders are encouraged by calling 434-689-2661 by Thursday, Feb. 29. The firehouse is located at 1697 Palmer Springs Road, at the intersection of Palmer Springs Road, Rough Road and Mineral Springs Road. 

MARCH 2 

FIELD TRIAL — Palmer Springs Volunteer Fire Department will hold a field trial on Saturday, March 2. The hounds will be cast at daylight and awards/trophies will be presented mid-afternoon. The Palmer Springs Field Trial is a HGA hunt with 10 places for each class. The activities begin at the Palmer Springs Firehouse, located at 1697 Palmer Springs Road, at the intersection of Palmer Springs Road, Rough Road and Mineral Springs Road. 

MARCH 3 

MORNING WORSHIP — Victoria Baptist Church, located at 1423 8th Street in Victoria, will hold worship services on Sunday, March 3, with Sunday School at 9:45 a.m. and worship at 11 a.m. Dr. Tom Stocks will continue his sermon series for Easter, entitled “Seven Last Words of The Cross.” 

MARCH 9 

MEDITATION FOR BUSY PEOPLE — Victoria Public Library will host an introduction to meditation, organized by Angie Tharpe. It’ll be held on Saturday, March 9, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Attendees will learn several simple research-based meditation practices to improve overall wellness that easily fit into a busy schedule. MARCH 23 

FREEDOM FUND BANQUET — The Lunenburg County branch of the NAACP will hold a Freedom Fund Banquet on Saturday, March 23. The event begins at 3 p.m. and will be held at The People’s Community Center, located at 1021 Tidewater Avenue in Victoria. Farmville attorney Mr. James E. Ghee will be the guest speaker. ONGOING 

CAR CLUB MEETS — The Heart of Virginia Classic Auto Club meets the second Monday each month at Merk’s Place in Farmville. Eat in at 6 p.m., meeting at 7 p.m. Cruise ins are held on the third Saturday from April through October in the parking lot by Tractor Supply in Farmville. 5 p.m. till dusk. Any car owner is welcome to join the club or bring their car to the cruise ins. 

CHURCH SERVICES — Bethany Baptist Church, located at 5968 Plank Road in Kenbridge, holds worship services on the second and fourth Sundays of the month. Sunday School is every Sunday at 9:30 a.m. Bring your Bible. Face masks are required and social distancing is practiced. All are welcome. 

CHURCH SERVICES — Victoria Evangelical Presbyterian Church, located at 1419 8th Street in Victoria, will hold worship services each Sunday, beginning at 9:30 a.m. 

CHURCH SERVICES — New Grove Baptist Church is open for in-person morning worship and teleconferences on the second and fourth Sundays at 11 a.m. In-person Sunday School will be held every week at 10 a.m. The call-in telephone number is 301-715-8592. CHURCH SERVICES — New Galilee Baptist Church, located at 4565 Plank Road in Kenbridge, has re-opened its church doors for in-person and teleconference services. These will be held every first and third Sunday, beginning at 11 a.m. Masks are required and people are asked to bring their own Bible. 

CHURCH SERVICES — Oak Grove Baptist Church, located at 127 Oak Grove Road, holds worship services on each first and third Sunday at 11:30 a.m. under the leadership of Rev. Boris Bullock. 

VFW MEETINGS — The VFW and VFW Auxiliary meet at 7 p.m. the fourth Tuesday of each month at VFW Post No. 9954 in Victoria. The members of the VFW and the Auxiliary share a dinner at 6:15 p.m. prior to the meeting. 

LUNENBURG REPUBLICANS — The Lunenburg Republicans meet the first Tuesday of each month at the La Victoria Mexican Restaurant in Lunenburg at 6 p.m. 

BETHANY BAPTIST CHURCH — Bethany Baptist Church located at 5968 Plank Road in Kenbridge holds in-person services at 11 a.m. on the second and fourth Sundays. Sunday School is every Sunday at 9:30 a.m. Bring your Bible. Face masks are optional and social distancing will be practiced.
