Linda Fox KrinerLinda Fox Kriner, 77, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, March 2.

Linda was born and raised in Victoria. She was a 1965 graduate of Victoria High School. Linda went on to graduate from Trevecca Nazarene College in 1969 with a degree in English and Elementary Education.

In August of 1969, Linda married her “campground sweetheart” and love of her life, Walt Kriner. During their life together in both the military and pastoral ministry, they lived in Okinawa, Japan, Richmond, Colorado Springs, Colorado and Kittanning, Pennsylvania. Walt and Linda have been residents of Newport News for 42 years.

Linda was a devoted Christian and pastor’s wife. She played the piano and organ, and taught Sunday school every Sunday of her and Walt’s ministry together. Outside of ministry, Linda worked for the City of Newport News in the Commissioner of the Revenue Office for over 30 years retiring in 2012 as the Deputy Commissioner of the Revenue.

Linda is predeceased by her parents John Earl Fox and Clara Farris Fox of Victoria. 

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Walt; two sons, David (Theresa) and Jason (Scott); seven grandchildren, Emily, Lauren, Micah (Sara), Caleb (Tiffani), Mary, Benjamin and Quinnten; and a sister, Carolyn.

A celebration of Linda’s life was held on Thursday, March 7, at 2 p.m., at the Newport News Church of the Nazarene, 29 Harpersville Road in Newport News. Interment followed at Peninsula Memorial Park.
